Part 10 of The Space Between Us Series – Finale | Desire Lines

DL - The plane ticket was never printed.
Not because Noah gave up on Lisbon,
but because Livia finally said the words she’d been holding:
“Let’s build here first. Then we’ll go somewhere together.”
It had been a year.
Since the rain.
Since the bookstore.
Since their lives quietly tangled again.

Some days were messy.
Dishes left in the sink. Missed calls.

Moments of doubt that showed up uninvited.
But they stayed.
Not because it was easy,
but because it mattered.

One afternoon, they visited the park where Noah had first handed her the journal.
The same one now filled with pages in both their handwritings.
Notes. Fragments. Regrets. Dreams.

The record of a love written without script, honest, crooked, unfinished.
He turned to her as they sat on the bench, wind tugging lightly at her sleeves.
“You know what desire lines are, right?” he asked.
She smiled.
“Paths created when people walk where there’s no road, just where their feet choose to go.”
He nodded. “Exactly. And somehow, they always lead to where people truly want to be.”
She looked down at their fingers intertwined, calloused by time but still reaching.

“And that’s what we are, huh?” she said. “Not perfect. Not planned. Just… real.”
They didn’t say I love you that day.
They didn’t need to.
Instead, they got up, walked the worn path ahead,
and left behind another imprint,
one that didn’t follow the pavement,
but curved softly through the grass,
invisible to most,
but theirs.

The End
But not really. Because love, like desire lines, never ends. It simply keeps being walked.
